The Korg Group Education Controller (GEC5) exemplifies cutting-edge technology in group instruction, particularly in music, language, and technology labs. With a focus on user experience, the software interface offers intuitive navigation and various practice and instruction modes, ensuring a highly efficient and engaging classroom environment.

One of the standout features of the GEC5 is its advanced and accessible audio routing capabilities, which are compatible with any digital audio signal. This flexibility allows educators to creatively configure their labs using an array of electronic instruments, including digital pianos, guitars, synthesizers, and MIDI-controlled software instruments. The system also supports computer integration, enhancing educational experiences through diverse learning opportunities. Unlike other systems that may impose restrictions, the Korg GEC5 is open-ended, enabling educators to adopt any curriculum that aligns with their instructional goals.

Korg's extensive collaboration with educators over the past two decades has significantly informed the development of the GEC5 Lab System. This expertise translates into a system that is both user-friendly and robust, establishing the GEC5 as a formidable option for classroom control.

Multiple Modes Mean Flexibility

The GEC5 operates in three primary modes, each easily selectable within the teacher’s software interface:

  • Lecture Mode: Facilitates delivery of material in a lecture format. All students can hear the teacher’s microphone and instrument or computer, creating an environment conducive to focused listening.
    • Engage student instruments by tapping the Student Instrument/Student Stations button.
    • Exclude an individual student from the lecture by tapping and holding for independent work.
    • Bring a student back into the lecture for discussion by double-tapping.
  • Practice Mode: Designed for independent student work. Each student only hears their own instrument or computer, while the teacher can monitor progress through two-way communication.
    • Double-tap to initiate eavesdropping; double-tap again to converse.
    • Select All Call to gain attention from the entire group.
    • Single tap to exit eavesdrop mode.
  • Group Mode: This mode fosters collaboration as students work together in groups. Participants can hear their own instruments along with those from their group members.
    • Select students for grouping by tapping and holding, then initiate a New Group.
    • Access Auto Group Presets for quick setups.
    • Create custom presets tailored to each class’s needs.

*Please note that this application is designed for use with the GEC5 hardware system available through authorized Korg Dealers.
